Yeah, I know, I’m way behind. But, it has been relatively quite since late July. Here are the highlights of the last couple of weeks.

Allison competed in the Kentucky State Championship in late July. She qualified in 5 events plus 3 relay events. First, a little information on how these swim meets work. To swim in the state championship meet, swimmers must earn elgibility. They become eligible by swimming a qualified time. Each event has a different qualifying time. In other words, not every simmer in the state get to participate. It is a great accomplishment just to qualify for the meet. At the meet itself, there are preliminary heats followed by finals. All eligible swimmers compete in the preliminary heats. The top 16 swimmers return later that day to swim for the state championship.

As for Allison, she was awesome. On Saturday, she returned for the finals and placed 10th in the state in the 200 meter backstroke. In this event, she also achieved a personal best time. She followed this up with a return to the finals on Sunday and finished 15th in the 100 meter backstroke.

When you get a chance, please congratulate Allison. She works very hard at her swimming.

The rest of Allison’s summer has been spent working. She is working as many hours as she can to earn a few extra dollars.

David has been busy. David and I spent 3 nights at Webelo Resident Camp? What is that you ask? Well, here is that it is: 3 days of being extremely busy – the curriculum is jam packed; eating really bad food; sleeping in a tent on wet sleeping bags (yep it rained, yep the tent leaked); lots of sweat; plenty of bug bites. But, we had fun. It was nice for me and David to spend some time together.

David did spend 3 additional nights at church camp where he had a great time.

David has also started practicing for fall baseball. He will be on the Braves this fall. He is hoping the coaches give him a shot at pitching. He is moving up to kid pitch baseball this fall.

Daniel’s summer ended quitely. He was so front loaded at the beginning of the summer, he enjoyed a little down time. He spent the last couple of weeks just hanging out with his friends.

School started this week – the kids are excited – NOT! Neither is Lisa. Lisa does all of the work on this one – getting the kids off to school and making sure they get to where they need to be each afternoon. I have the easy part, working at UPS (ha).

We had a great summer, with our activities and vacation it just flew by. We are setup for a great fall, though. David’s baseball, more swimming for Allison, Daniel and David playing basketball, UofL football, and the gazillion activities Daniel gets involved with at school. Be sure to check back to catch everything that is going on.
